The hottest social network on internet is twitter. As I said on my previous article, twitter is all about following, being followed and tweeting. Getting more followers will only make you more powerful. I have also posted a hub on how to get more followers. This hub is all about why people really follow you? Main reasons why people follow you on twitter are:

• Hoping you will Follow Back: Follower is hoping that you too will follow him back. He want to increase his followers count, so he randomly followed some users hoping they will follow-back. Most spammers do that.

• You are pretty popular or a celebrity: This is what happening on twitter. If you are a celebrity then you will get millions of followers. Actors, singers, politicians and billionaires are getting more followers than anyone else.

• You have a popular website/blog: Huge list of people follow you because they follow your blog. They will definitely follow you on twitter if they use these websites very often. Like mashable.com and problogger.com

• You and follower have same interests: There is every chance that some followed you only because he and you have same interests.

• You are creator of an application: People follow some application creator's twitter profile too. Most popular twitter applications like tweet-deck etc and services like tweetmeme etc are examples of this.

• You forcefully made them to follow by running contests: Someone followed you only because he wanted to participate in the contest run by you and you forcefully made him to follow you.

• Your name was recommended in #FollowFriday: Someone just followed you because he saw your profile on #followfriday train.
